Greetings! My name is Bonnie Sexton and I serve as Director of Human Resources and Community Relations for MRC Industries, Inc., a local non-profit organization serving individuals with disabilities. I am also very active in our local running community through Kalamazoo Area Runners (KAR).
I have been employed with MRC since 2010 and in my unique role have the opportunity to wear a variety of hats; human resources, marketing, public relations and fund development. I love the meaningful work our organization does in our community and our mission to encourage and support individuals living with a disability to achieve their fullest potential through employment, skill-building and active community involvement. MRC serves approximately 600 individuals a year with developmental or intellectual disabilities, traumatic brain injuries, emotional impairments and/or mental illness.
For our business customers, MRC offers job placement, assembly and packaging and custodial services and the opportunity to make a huge difference in the lives of the people we serve. MRC also partners with a number of other local non-profit organizations through performing volunteer work.
If you have attended the Art Hop in downtown Kalamazoo, you may have visited MRC artWorks. ArtWorks is an art gallery, studio and retail store located on the Kalamazoo Mall offering unique, fun and affordable art created by individuals with disabilities. All artists receive a commission on the sale of the artwork.
I love to share MRC’s story, and serve on the Speakers Bureau of the United Way of the Battle Creek and Kalamazoo Region.
On a personal note, I was born and raised in Westchester County, NY, and lived in New Hampshire for four years before my family and I relocated to West Michigan in 1997 (which we now consider our home). I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management from Liberty University, a Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management from Mercy College and have my SPHR and SHRM-SCP certifications. I have three children - and an interesting note - my husband commutes home monthly from Dallas, TX!
I am an avid runner, RRCA Certified Running Coach and have completed 38 marathons (including the Boston Marathon five times). I serve as the Board President for Kalamazoo Area Runners (KAR) and love to share my passion for the sport with others. KAR is Michigan’s largest running club with nearly 1,400 members, and offers running events, programs and membership benefits to runners (or future runners!) of all abilities. We also always have lots of volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups!

Hi, I’m Laurel! I am known around Young Professional circles as that talkative person who uses a lot of hand gestures. Some people find that charming, others can find it a bit too much before their first cup of coffee. If you watch the live Facebook interview from October’s meeting, I’ll be the one telling (what looks like) a very exciting story in the background. Speaking of, have you liked YPNKzoo on Facebook so that you get notifications of upcoming events and other exciting news?
Hi! My name is Elisa Dely and I am co-owner, with Rob Kennedy of Genesis Fitness And Wellness LLC. I got into health and fitness later in my career. Originally I was a PR and marketing professional for a local arts organization. I have also worked in advertising, sales, and as a writer. 20 years ago, I began my fitness journey. I had always been a "want to be "and have never figured out how to reach my goals. I was the person who tried every gimmick and when it came time to actually get serious about weight loss I had over 80 pounds to lose.

The quintessential renaissance man, Bruce has spent the majority of his adult life a nomad, true to the moment but always hungry for what the next experience will teach him and how he may apply this ever-evolving awareness to the greater good. With a degree from MSU in Materials Science Engineering, and his insatiable thirst for growth, Bruce has sampled life from many different perspectives; Materials Engineer, Professor, Yacht Captain, Construction Management, Marketing/Business Development, Ranch hand, National Sales Manager, Business Owner, Bartender and Ski Bum, to name a few. His most recent venture took him to the Amazon, teaching among remote indigenous communities. While developing a platform for an international teacher exchange program with a leading university in Colombia, Bruce became involved with a group of scientists working on a program to address health and malnutrition issues endemic of children in so many impoverished areas there. This project centered around an organic dietary supplement, Ganogen®, clinically proven to fortify the immune system. After helping to launch the product in Colombia it was time to share the benefits of this wonderful innovation with the rest of the world.
